Is Short Term Health Insurance A Scam

A lot of people on evaluating the temporary and the regular medical plans feel that there must be something wrong with the temporary ones as they are so cheap. The main thing that people need to do when considering a temporary medical policy is contact the state’s department of insurance to ask them about the company offering the policies. If it is a reputable company, they will have gone through the approval process to ensure compliance with all the rules and regulations that every insurance plan has to go through.
Most people shop for short term medical insurance when they have been offered COBRA from a job they just left. At the time of a job change a lot of people look to save as much money as possible for basic supplies. So when they get a COBRA bill they were not expecting, they panic and look for alternatives.
When compared to the temporary health plans in the regular medical plans there are a whole lot of medical examinations that one is put through before issuance. Sometimes when you apply for a regular insurance plan, you have to give them your doctor records. Alternatively it is a nurse that has to conduct a physical examination before getting the policy. The short term insurance plans require the applicant to fillin only one word answers that are usually “yes” or “no” for the questions asked. As a result of sufficient knowledge about procuring an insurance policy many of the them feel that it is too short a procedure to get insurance.
As these short term health insurance plans are less costly and quite easy to procure many people feel that these are not genuine. There is the state insurance department that acts as the regulatory authority for all medical insurance policies even if they are not suitable for all circumstances. If anyone needs coverage for a short period of time to bridge a gap between coverage, temporary medical plans are not a scam. You may as well get to scrutinize so many websites that are present online as well.
